Cubble (cub + pebble) normal
Stolion (stone + lion) normal
Cubble and Stolion are the Meowth and Persian of today before domestication and after some natural mutation. They were fierce solitary hunters; here we see a mother Stolion teaching her young Cubble how to bring down a common prey at the time, Grazzel, now extinct. Over time, as territory became more scarce and prey more difficult to come by, the Pokemon grew smaller and paler, adjusting to a shift in environmental colors. By the time Pokemon battling was popularized, Cubble and Stolion were favorites for their brute force and strength. Eventually, though, due to the fiercely loyal nature, when brought up from a hatchling, they were preferred as pets. High-end breeders generally preferred smaller, sleeker, paler specimens. This led to a widespread preference for the more delicate, light-colored Meowth and Persian we see today. The Pokemon became more docile and tame and are almost never seen in the wild today. The transition of the object on the forehead from stone to coin and jewel is not precisely know, although some speculate it has to do with the extremely high cost of light-furred Stolions when they were first being bred for the feature.
